AMLI Bets On Old Fourth Ward Date: July, 2010 Reprinted from Biznow Newsletter July 19, 2010 (newsletter@biznow.com)
Yesterday, we snapped the 337-unit apartment complex once known as Alta Old Fourth Ward. AMLI Residential Properties Trust bought it this month for $45.5M, roughly $135K per unit, according to Databank. The complex had been foreclosed on in January by CSE Mortgage. The Old Fourth Ward is experiencing a bit of renaissance, with new restaurants and retail, as well as a number of multifamily projects coming online in recent years.
Doing our best to visually represent such rebirth, we show you the new sign, which AMLI has installed since the deal closed July 1. (And perhaps those flowers are perennials re-blooming. Too much?) AMLI is based in Chicago and focuses on the development, acquisition, and management of luxury apartment communities. It now has 13 properties in Atlanta. Others include AMLI at Barrett Walk, AMLI Lindbergh, and AMLI Atlantic Square. AMLI’s other markets are Austin, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, New Jersey, Seattle, South Florida, and Southern California.
Art on the BeltLine Date: July, 2010
As you may have heard, the Art on the BeltLine project is in full swing. We have several gorgeous pieces installed on the BeltLine overlooking Historic Fourth Ward Park, including a mosaic mural (the Global Garden Project) and the interactive SonoScape. If you haven't taken a walk up there in awhile, grab the family or some friends and check it out.
There is so much to see all around the BeltLine corridor. Click here for a map of art locations and artist and project information.
If you're looking for performance art, look no further. Throughout the summer, Art on the BeltLine will be showcasing fabulous talent with many types of performances. Click here for a schedule.
We hope you will take some time to enjoy the art (and the BeltLine) this summer!

By Sarah Toton (Emory University)
Skate Park an Amazing Addition to H4WP! Date: January 20, 2010 From: Alisa Chambers
Construction documents for Atlanta's first in-town skatepark are approaching 90% complete. Construction of the 15,000 square-foot facility is currently anticipated to start in early spring with substantial completion in October 2010.
Conservancy Design Review Committee members have had a chance to peek at the preliminary drawings and are very impressed. Local skaters were able to provide their comments and suggestions to Brad Siedlecki of Pillar Design Studios located in Tempe, AZ. Brad is a veteran skate park designer. As a skater himself, Brad understands the need for a safe, legal place to skate and has incorporated his expertise and knowledge of landscape architecture to design a first-class skate park for Atlanta.
